As OUT HEALTH’S Executive Director, Joy Stieglitz focuses on strengthening finances and operations and positioning the organization for long-term stability and growth to ensure the delivery of exemplary health and wellness services and the advancement of OUT HEALTH’S mission to reduce health disparities in the LGBTQ+ community.

Prior to joining OUT HEALTH, Joy’s 25+ year professional planning career at Vandewalle & Associates focused on rebuilding transformative urban neighborhoods and creating more equitable and inclusive communities. Joy’s early career experience as an adolescent counselor leading individual and group therapy sessions formed the foundation of her lifelong desire to work with underserved, high risk youth.

Joy has volunteered in various capacities including Gathering Waters Conservancy Board of Directors, 15 years on a Governor-appointed regulatory policy think tank, dozens of classrooms and advisory committees at Madison Metropolitan School District, and numerous other local organizations. She is also a frequent presenter informing educators, school administrators, and the general public about best practice when working with LGBTQ youth.

Joy earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Tufts University and Master of Urban and Regional Planning degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
